The double bridle in detail

The Weymouth bit differs clearly from the other bits commonly used in equestrian sport, which are usually single or double jointed. The Weymouth bit, used with a double bridle, works with one straight bar, to which the so-called shanks are attached. In addition, a chin chain is part of the double bridle, which runs loosely under the chin, but is also involved in the leverage effect of the bridle. As a rider you must have a very steady hand when using a double bridle, in order to avoid hurting your horse.

Double bridles at the show

If you are already riding in the higher levels of dressage and perhaps even at competitions, then the double bridle is a must. You will find a great selection of double bridles at Horze, including some with browbands featuring Swarovski crystal accents
